Although humidifiers are noisy, clunky and just ugly to look at, they can help with more than alleviating sinuses. Behind the jump are some ways they can help the hair, skin and general housekeeping.

A newbie's guide to skin care: The basics

One thing that I've always struggled with is skin care. I know there's a science behind skin care, but then again, science was never my best subject either!

As a teenager, I had a lot of pimples and acne as I turned 13-14 which then immediately stopped as soon as I turned 15. In that time, I've tried a whole multitude of products. Now I've come to the point where I can simplify which products I need and which I don't and protect my skin from aging and wrinkles (a.k.a not depend on "black don't crack")

So I have quite a bit of make-up. I wouldn't say I have a whole department store in my traincase, but I have enough that I have quite a few options. Within those options, there are products that I can always rely on-shadows that can go from night-to-day, brushed I can use to apply any kind of eye product, foundation that looks flawless etc, etc.

So here are my five favorite products that I would use all the time if I had no option (at the moment)

Food post: Cheesecake

If there's one dessert that will always have a place in my heart, it is cheesecake.

I love all kinds of cheesecakes: oreo, strawberry, pineapple...as long as it doesn't have peanuts in it, I LOVE IT!

Since my mother's birthday is coming up tomorrow as I write this, I thought it would be a great idea to make a cake for her birthday since isn't really a fan traditional birthday cakes (she doesn't like cakes with too much icing). Thanks to this website, I learned how to make a strawberry lemon cheesecake and I got it to her exact swetness/tartness preference before I baked it. After all the prep, mixing, baking and waiting, here are the pictures of how it turned out (behind the jump)

True Life: Product Junky-ism

So yesterday, my mother and I were hanging around at Target (NOT TAR-JAY!) and for me, I must always go through the hair products and the beauty aisle. Usually, I don't buy anything-I get the scent of a few products, see if there's any accessories that I could use for updos, and then I leave.

This time, I was looking around and she decides to pick up a few products. Here's how the conversation went:

Mom: Want this one?
Me: Ehhh no, I don't really like the ingredients with this one
Mom: How about this one?
Me: I've heard about it, but I haven't really done my homework on it. You can take it if you want to use it.
Mom: Okay, I'll take it

So then we left with this

WANTED: A perfect ends sealant

So now that school is ended, I have a goal to solve one of my greatest mysteries: Why does my hair get that crunchy feeling even though I have moisturized it with water.

Then I realized that I was forgetting an important component of moisturizing-sealing the moisture. The new question was now is what to seal with.

Food Post: Avocado Feta Dip

Today, I have an avocado feta dip that I learned how to make last summer. It's really good for you and OMG it tastes amazing!

Mine however turns out like this thanks to over-stirring (and perhaps too much cumin...but I love the smell of cumin!)
