3 ways to stay active during a heat wave

Here in DC and across the Eastern seaboard, there is no denying that we are in the middle of a heat wave. As someone who has breathing problems, this makes exercising outside more difficult. Heat waves happen very often during the summer around here so we have to find a way to exercise safely indoors as well as outdoors. These are some of the ways that I keep interest in exercising indoors and ways I stay healthy if (and I really do mean IF) I'm exercising outside.

1) Limit sun exposure from 10 am-4 pm

It has been found that between 10 am-4 pm, the sun is highest in the sky and temperatures usually reach their highest during these times. If you absolutely want to go for a jog, wait for the times when the sun is lower. If you do go outside during these hours, please stay hydrated!

2) YouTube workouts

The possibilities of what you can upload onto YouTube are endless! There are many exercise channels that can range from cardio to target workouts. Some channels that I like which to check out:
SparkPeople
ClickFitness
ToneItUpcom
Steadyhealth

3)Workouts via Digital Cable Box

Workouts right from your remote control!

For those that have a digital cable box, you may able to access a large workout section right from your remote control! From the OnDemand menu, there are loads quick exercises that only take 10 minutes to do, so put that remote control to work!

So those are a few ways in which you can stay active with your exercise regimen during the summer. As always, PLEAAAAAASE consult your doctor before starting any sort of regimen because we don't want you to get hurt! Have fun and stay cool! :-D
